Ulzana’s Raid (1972) DVD — Uncut Version
The plot
After Ulzana leaves the reservation with a small group of Apache warriors, a young cavalry officer is ordered to pursue them. Veteran scout McIntosh and Apache guide Ke-Ni-Tay accompany the patrol. The officer’s ideals are tested by the violence they encounter and by the practical knowledge needed to survive the chase. Burt Lancaster and Bruce Davison star in Robert Aldrich’s uncompromising Western. The pursuit becomes a study of experience, judgment and the danger of treating an unfamiliar enemy as a simple abstraction. For collectors of challenging 1970s Westerns, it offers a tense journey in which understanding the conflict is as difficult as finding the men being tracked.
