The plot
A gang fleeing toward Mexico needs a ferry to cross the river. Its operator refuses to surrender his boat and moves the townspeople to safety on the opposite bank, turning the crossing into a dangerous standoff with lives on both sides at stake. Lee Van Cleef faces Warren Oates in Gordon Douglas's western, with Forrest Tucker. The confined battleground and clash of stubborn opponents give fans of frontier suspense a different kind of showdown.
