The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974) DVD
The plot
Duddy Kravitz is determined to make something of himself. Growing up in Montreal, he pursues money, opportunity and the dream of owning land with an energy that can charm the people around him—or drive them away. Each new scheme tests how much he is willing to sacrifice for success. Richard Dreyfuss stars in Ted Kotcheff’s adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s novel, alongside Micheline Lanctôt and Jack Warden. Funny, abrasive and increasingly uncomfortable, this Canadian character study offers collectors a story in which ambition is as compelling as its consequences.
