The Buddy System (1984) DVD
The plot
A school security guard discovers that a single mother has bent the rules to get her son into a better school. What begins as an awkward encounter develops into an unexpected connection, encouraged by a boy who sees the possibility of a new family. Richard Dreyfuss and Susan Sarandon star with Wil Wheaton in this romantic comedy directed by Glenn Jordan. The Buddy System brings together an aspiring inventor, an independent mother and a child with plans of his own. Its mixture of romance and family complications makes it a warm option for an evening of 1980s character comedy.
