The plot
Summer camp brings together two teenage girls whose backgrounds and outward confidence could hardly be more different. Encouraged by their peers, they turn romantic experience into a contest, only to discover that feelings and friendship are harder to measure than a wager suggests. Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol star, with Matt Dillon and Armand Assante, in Ronald F. Maxwell's coming-of-age comedy drama. Behind the camp rivalry is a story about social pressure and the gap between seeming grown-up and understanding yourself. It is a revealing choice for viewers revisiting the teen films of the early 1980s.
