The Reflecting Skin (1990) DVD
The plot
Young Seth tries to understand the disturbing events around his rural home through stories of vampires. A solitary widow becomes the focus of his fears, and when his older brother returns and grows close to her, Seth believes he must intervene. His explanation of the world may be more dangerous than he knows. Philip Ridley directs Jeremy Cooper, Lindsay Duncan and Viggo Mortensen in a film where bright landscapes sit uneasily beside grief and violence. Horror emerges through a child’s interpretation of adult behavior, leaving room for uncertainty. Choose it for an unsettling, visually expressive story that moves beyond a conventional supernatural mystery.
