The Trip to Bountiful (1985) DVD
The plot
Carrie Watts lives with her son and daughter-in-law in Houston, but her thoughts keep returning to Bountiful, the Texas town where she grew up. When a chance to leave presents itself, she sets out alone. The journey becomes a search for a home that may no longer exist as she remembers it. Geraldine Page stars with John Heard, Carlin Glynn and Rebecca De Mornay in Peter Masterson’s adaptation of Horton Foote’s play. The drama finds its strength in conversations, memories and the need for independence late in life. It is a thoughtful choice for viewers who enjoy intimate stories carried by character and performance.
