The plot
Small-time thief Tony Pino sees a remarkable opportunity in a security company that looks far less secure than its reputation suggests. He assembles a crew for an ambitious Boston robbery, but planning the job is only the beginning of their problems. Peter Falk stars with Peter Boyle, Warren Oates and Gena Rowlands in William Friedkin’s crime comedy. Inspired by the 1950 Brink’s robbery, the film follows men whose grand ambitions sit awkwardly beside their everyday limitations. Collectors who enjoy caper films can expect a story concerned as much with the robbers’ personalities as with the mechanics of the heist.
