The Battle of the Sexes (1959) DVD
The plot
An American businesswoman arrives with plans to modernize a traditional Scottish textile company. The new owner welcomes her advice, but the staff regards change with alarm. Quiet employee Mr. Martin becomes an unlikely champion of resistance, and an office dispute takes an increasingly comic turn. Peter Sellers, Constance Cummings and Robert Morley star in Charles Crichton’s adaptation of James Thurber’s story The Catbird Seat. The humor comes from clashing personalities, stubborn traditions and schemes that refuse to go as planned—a useful choice for fans of Sellers and British workplace comedy.
