Off Beat (1986) DVD — Remastered
The plot
Librarian Joe Gower agrees to stand in for a police officer friend at a charity dance competition. Wearing a borrowed uniform, he meets an officer he wants to impress and discovers that pretending to be a cop creates problems far beyond the dance floor. Keeping the deception alive soon means dealing with real police business. Judge Reinhold and Meg Tilly star in Michael Dinner's comedy, with Cleavant Derricks as the friend behind Joe's unusual favor. Romance, mistaken identity and an amateur's attempts to look professional give the film its comic momentum. This remastered edition is a lighthearted choice for an evening of 1980s comedy.
