Necronomicon: Book of the Dead (1993) DVD
The plot
H. P. Lovecraft gains access to a forbidden book guarded in an old library, discovering stories whose horrors reach beyond the page. His reading opens three tales of attempts to overcome death, extend life and confront creatures outside ordinary human experience, while his own search carries dangers of its own. Jeffrey Combs plays the fictionalized Lovecraft in this horror anthology, with segments directed by Christophe Gans, Shūsuke Kaneko and Brian Yuzna. The linked stories offer different routes into grotesque fantasy and the cost of forbidden knowledge. It is a choice for viewers who enjoy anthology horror and cinematic variations on Lovecraft's ideas.
