The plot
A former CIA operative hoping to leave violence behind is stranded in a small town when his car breaks down. Helping a local family draws him into a struggle against a powerful landowner, while the life he meant to abandon remains close enough to threaten his new refuge. Burt Reynolds stars with Cliff Robertson in Harley Cokliss's action thriller. The setup brings a seasoned outsider into a community where intimidation has become routine, giving Reynolds a role built around reluctant intervention. It is a straightforward choice for viewers who enjoy lone-defender stories and the harder edge of his 1980s work.
