The plot
Dr. Henry Jekyll's search for a way to prolong life produces a formula that transforms him into another person: Edwina Hyde. As his experiments require an increasingly terrible supply of human material, the struggle between the two identities brings murder to the streets of Whitechapel. Ralph Bates and Martine Beswick star in Roy Ward Baker's Hammer horror film. Its inventive variation on the Jekyll-and-Hyde story combines laboratory obsession and Victorian menace for viewers who enjoy a fresh twist on a familiar gothic premise.
