Walk on the Wild Side (1962) DVD
The plot
Dove Linkhorn arrives in New Orleans looking for Hallie, the woman he has not forgotten. Finding her working at a bordello turns the reunion into a struggle. The establishment’s powerful owner has no intention of letting Hallie leave easily, while the people around Dove pursue desires of their own. Laurence Harvey, Capucine, Barbara Stanwyck and Jane Fonda star in Edward Dmytryk’s drama. The city’s underworld provides a setting for affection, dependency and attempts to escape a life that has become difficult to change. It is an evocative selection for viewers drawn to emotionally charged ensemble stories and the tensions beneath a hoped-for romantic reunion.
