The Seduction of Joe Tynan (1979) DVD
The plot
Senator Joe Tynan has a growing public reputation and a family increasingly tired of sharing him with Washington. A controversial Supreme Court nomination offers a chance to stand on principle and advance his career. Working with lawyer Karen Traynor also creates a temptation that tests his marriage. Alan Alda wrote the screenplay and stars with Barbara Harris and Meryl Streep in this drama directed by Jerry Schatzberg. The political contest and the private affair expose different sides of the same ambition. It is an engaging selection for viewers interested in character-driven stories about the compromises behind a polished public image.
