The Red Beret (1953) DVD — Paratrooper
The plot
A volunteer known as Canada enters British parachute training with more experience than he admits. He is capable under pressure but reluctant to take command, leaving his fellow soldiers and officers to wonder what he is hiding. A dangerous raid forces him to confront the responsibilities he has tried to avoid. Alan Ladd, Leo Genn and Susan Stephen star in Terence Young’s wartime adventure, released in the United States as Paratrooper. Training-ground tension, a guarded romance and combat action build around a soldier’s concealed past. It is a useful pick for collectors of British military films and Ladd’s dramatic adventures.
