The Glass Key (1942) DVD
The plot
Political fixer Ed Beaumont is fiercely loyal to his boss, Paul Madvig, even when a murder threatens to destroy the man’s position. As rival interests close in, Ed must work through intimidation, hidden motives and a dangerous attraction to discover what really happened. Alan Ladd, Veronica Lake and Brian Donlevy lead Stuart Heisler’s adaptation of Dashiell Hammett’s novel. The Glass Key combines a murder investigation with the power struggles of a corrupt political world. Its hard-edged relationships and tense reversals make it a strong choice for fans of classic crime films and the Ladd–Lake pairing.
