The plot
A returning Navy veteran finds his marriage in ruins, then becomes the prime suspect when his wife is killed. With the police closing in and his friends carrying troubles of their own, he must piece together what happened before the evidence turns against him. Alan Ladd, Veronica Lake and William Bendix star in this film noir directed by George Marshall from Raymond Chandler’s screenplay. A sympathetic stranger, a nightclub and a trail of concealed motives draw the investigation forward. The Blue Dahlia is an inviting choice for collectors who enjoy hard-boiled dialogue and mysteries built around compromised lives.
