The Anniversary (1968) DVD
The plot
An annual family celebration becomes an ordeal when a domineering widow summons her three sons home. Secrets, resentments and plans for independence surface, but their mother knows exactly how to turn each weakness to her advantage. Bette Davis makes the occasion anything but a happy anniversary. Roy Ward Baker directs this 1968 black comedy, with Sheila Hancock and Jack Hedley among the cast. Its confined family setting and cutting exchanges make it an appealing choice for viewers who enjoy sharp dialogue, uncomfortable humor and Davis at her most commanding.
