The Shrimp on the Barbie (1990) DVD — Remastered
The plot
An Australian heiress wants her father to accept the man she has chosen. When he refuses, she recruits an American waiter to pose as an even less suitable fiance, hoping to make her real boyfriend look better by comparison. The arrangement soon becomes harder to control than she expected. Cheech Marin, Emma Samms and Vernon Wells lead this romantic comedy of social embarrassment and calculated appearances. A staged relationship gives the characters room to discover feelings their original plan did not allow for. This remastered edition is a lighthearted option for viewers who enjoy schemes that turn their own creators into the punchline.
