Film
Nostradamus (1994) DVD
The plot
In sixteenth-century France, a physician's search for knowledge brings him into conflict with religious authority and conventional medicine. As Nostradamus confronts disease and experiences disturbing visions, his reputation draws both powerful admirers and dangerous suspicion. The film presents his life through a mixture of historical drama and mystical intrigue. Tchéky Karyo leads a cast including F. Murray Abraham, Rutger Hauer and Julia Ormond, directed by Roger Christian. Rather than treating the predictions as established fact, this dramatization explores the figure behind their enduring fascination. Period settings and an atmosphere of uncertainty make it a choice for viewers interested in stories where belief and inquiry collide.
