Lucky Luciano (1973) DVD — Remastered Edition
The plot
Francesco Rosi examines the world of Charles "Lucky" Luciano, following the connections between organized crime, business and political power. Rather than offering a simple rise-and-fall gangster story, the film pieces together a network of influence that extends across national borders and into institutions meant to enforce the law. Gian Maria Volonté plays Luciano, with Rod Steiger and Vincent Gardenia among the cast. The investigative approach makes this a compelling direction for viewers interested in Italian political cinema and crime films that ask how power operates. This is the remastered edition.
