Kingfish: A Story of Huey P. Long (1995) DVD
The plot
Huey Long rises from Louisiana politics to national prominence, using his appeal to ordinary voters to build a formidable base of power. The drama follows the ambitions, confrontations and personal relationships of a politician whose promises of reform were inseparable from controversy. John Goodman plays Long, with Matt Craven and Anne Heche among the cast, in Thomas Schlamme's television biography. Its focus on the man behind the public speeches makes it an interesting choice for viewers drawn to political character studies, historical television dramas and Goodman's dramatic work.
