Agent of Influence (2002) DVD
The plot
Canadian diplomat John Watkins is drawn into an interrogation shaped by Cold War suspicion. Questions about his Soviet connections become a struggle over political loyalties, private vulnerabilities and what investigators want him to say. Christopher Plummer plays Watkins in this dramatization adapted from Ian Adams’s book, with Marina Orsini and Ted Whittall. Directed by Michel Poulette, Agent of Influence approaches a real diplomatic controversy through the pressure of an increasingly coercive investigation. It is a political thriller for viewers interested in the human cost of official secrecy.
