Blood and Roses (1960) DVD — Widescreen Version
The plot
The legend of a vampire ancestor hangs over Carmilla as her cousin prepares to marry. A visit to the family tomb draws her into a sinister inheritance, and the estate becomes the setting for an uneasy collision of attraction, jealousy and death. Roger Vadim's adaptation of Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla approaches vampire horror through dreamlike images and troubled relationships. It is a distinctive selection for collectors interested in the more atmospheric side of European gothic cinema.
