The plot
American student Archer Sloan visits Moscow expecting adventure and a glimpse of a changing society. A chance encounter instead pulls him into a struggle over a stolen religious icon. With criminals pursuing the valuable object and trust in short supply, sightseeing gives way to a dangerous search for a way out. Frank Whaley, Natalya Negoda and Roman Polanski star in Deran Sarafian’s thriller. Back in the U.S.S.R. uses the uncertainty of the late Soviet period as the setting for a visitor who discovers that curiosity can make him a convenient target.
