Amateur (1994) DVD
The plot
Isabelle, a former nun trying to write erotic fiction, meets a man who has lost his memory. Helping him discover who he is draws her toward a past involving violence, a woman trying to escape him and criminals with unfinished business. Isabelle Huppert, Martin Donovan and Elina Löwensohn star in Hal Hartley’s offbeat thriller. Amateur blends a crime story with deadpan exchanges and unexpected questions about identity: can a man without memories become someone different, or will the people he hurt define him again?
