For a more informed collection

Buying a DVD: what to check before you order.

A title is just the beginning. Check these details to understand what you’ll receive and whether it suits your player.

Start with the exact film.

Compare the title, year and alternate titles with the film you want. Distinguish a single film from a season or collection.

Check the disc and your player.

Look for the listed disc format, region and compatibility information. If something is unconfirmed, ask about that exact edition before buying.

Look inside the edition.

  • Which audio and subtitle options are confirmed?
  • How many films or episodes are included?
  • How many discs and what packaging will you receive?

Check delivery and returns.

Read the current shipping information and returns policy before completing your order.

Put the checklist to use.

For a single film, open The Stranger and the Gunfighter DVD and compare its film identity with the separate edition details. For a multi-film item, open The Old Guard Collection and check included works separately from disc count. Unconfirmed details are marked in both sample listings.

Browse Western DVDs or horror & sci-fi DVDs to find another title.
