The Scarlet Blade (1963) DVD — The Crimson Blade
The plot
During the English Civil War, a rebel known as the Scarlet Blade challenges Colonel Judd’s authority. Loyalties inside Judd’s household are less secure than he believes: his daughter aids the opposing cause, while ambition and jealousy threaten to turn military conflict into personal betrayal. Jack Hedley, Oliver Reed and Lionel Jeffries lead this historical adventure directed by John Gilling. Also known as The Crimson Blade, it combines secret allegiances, romance and armed resistance against a turbulent seventeenth-century background. Viewers who enjoy period action with a cast of recognizable British character actors will find plenty of competing motives beneath the uniforms.
