Scandal (1989) DVD
The plot
Christine Keeler enters a circle where parties, personal relationships and political influence overlap. Her association with government minister John Profumo becomes public, exposing connections that powerful people would prefer to keep private. The consequences reach beyond Westminster to the friends and acquaintances caught in the scandal. John Hurt, Joanne Whalley, Bridget Fonda and Ian McKellen star in Michael Caton-Jones's dramatization of the Profumo affair. The film approaches a political crisis through the people drawn into it, balancing glamour with the vulnerability beneath it. It is a selection for viewers interested in British period drama and the collision of private behavior with public power.
