Johnny Guitar (1954) DVD — Martin Scorsese Introduction
The plot
Saloon owner Vienna refuses to surrender her place in a hostile frontier town. The arrival of a former lover, now calling himself Johnny Guitar, adds another complication as rival Emma Small turns suspicion and resentment into a campaign to drive Vienna out. Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden and Mercedes McCambridge star in Nicholas Ray's Western. Its struggle over belonging, power and old loyalties gives the confrontations a strongly personal charge. This edition includes an introduction by Martin Scorsese, adding a perspective for viewers exploring Ray's distinctive approach to the genre.
