Eyes of Fire (1983) DVD
The plot
An eighteenth-century preacher and his followers leave their community in search of a new beginning beyond the frontier. The forest where they settle seems to offer shelter, but strange presences and inexplicable events turn their promised refuge into a place of growing dread. Writer-director Avery Crounse builds a folk-horror nightmare around religious certainty, wilderness and forces the settlers do not understand. Its eerie woodland setting and dreamlike imagery make an unsettling choice for viewers who enjoy supernatural stories rooted in the landscape.
